Meet Dr. Anuraj Kochhar

Dr. Anuraj Kochhar is a passionate orthodontist who brings together strong academic training, years of clinical experience, and a genuine commitment to helping patients feel confident in their smiles. At Care Orthodontics, he is known for his thoughtful approach, attention to detail, and calm, caring manner with both children and adults.

Dr. Kochhar earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2008 and completed his Master of Dental Surgery in Orthodontics in 2012, graduating at the top of his class. From the beginning of his career, he showed a strong interest in both advanced orthodontic treatment and academic achievement.

In 2010, he became the first resident from his program to present research at the American Association of Orthodontists, a milestone that reflected his dedication to learning, innovation, and contributing to the future of orthodontics.

Dr. Kochhar has an extensive research background, with more than 50 PubMed indexed publications. His work has included important areas such as cleft related orthodontic care and airway focused studies. This research experience allows him to approach treatment with a strong evidence based foundation and a deep understanding of how orthodontics can affect both function and facial balance.

Before moving to Canada, Dr. Kochhar spent about 9 years in private practice, treating a wide variety of orthodontic cases and building a reputation for quality care and clinical precision. He later continued his professional journey at the University of Toronto in 2021 and 2022, where he further refined his orthodontic training and was selected as one of the candidates to receive advanced Straight Orthodontics training.

Since 2022, he has also served as an Orthodontic Instructor at the University of Toronto, where he has been involved in teaching and mentoring future dental professionals.

Dr. Kochhar believes orthodontics is about much more than straight teeth. For him, it is about creating healthy bites, improving facial harmony, and helping patients feel more confident in their everyday lives. He values careful diagnosis, personalized treatment planning, and clear communication so that every patient and family feels informed, comfortable, and supported throughout treatment.

He enjoys treating children, teens, and adults, and takes pride in delivering orthodontic care that is both precise and personal.

Outside of orthodontics, Dr. Kochhar has many interests that reflect his energetic and creative personality. He loves cricket and enjoys following both the Raptors and the Blue Jays. He is also an avid wildlife photographer, an enthusiastic traveler, and someone with a strong appreciation for cars and watches.

He shares life with his wife, Dr. Ritasha Bhasin, and their son, Aarizraj. Coming from a family with more than 10 doctors in the immediate family, caring for others has always been a natural part of his life. His journey as a GBS survivor has also shaped his resilience, perspective, and appreciation for life, qualities that continue to influence the way he connects with patients and families.

At Care Orthodontics, Dr. Kochhar brings together experience, knowledge, warmth, and precision to provide orthodontic care that is modern, thoughtful, and personalized. His goal is to help every patient achieve a smile that looks beautiful, feels healthy, and lasts for years to come.

Had a wonderful experience at this dental clinic! The clinic has such beautiful aesthetic vibes—clean, modern, and incredibly welcoming from the moment you walk in. One of the best things is the basketball play area for children, which keeps them happily engaged and makes visits so much easier for parents.

The appliance does not create the result. The treatment plan does. One of the biggest misconceptions in orthodontics is that Invisalign, braces, lingual braces, or another appliance is what creates the final smile. The reality is that appliances are simply tools. The true difference lies in diagnosis, treatment planning, biomechanics, and understanding how teeth, roots, bone, and facial structures respond to force over time. This patient presented with bimaxillary protrusion and missing permanent lower 5s (all four 5s were removed for treatment) Closing extraction spaces is not simply a matter of moving crowns together. It requires precise bodily tooth movement, root control, anchorage management, and careful monitoring throughout treatment. Using Invisalign and two refinement stages, we achieved: ✔ Complete space closure ✔ Class I canine relationship ✔ Class I molar relationship ✔ Excellent root parallelism ✔ Controlled bodily molar movement ✔ Improved incisor position and facial balance ✔ Successful eruption and integration of third molars into the arch ✔ Functional and esthetic final occlusion Whether treatment is performed with Invisalign, braces, lingual braces, expanders, or other orthodontic appliances, understanding how teeth move biologically is what allows predictable and stable outcomes. Technology is important. Appliances are important. But thoughtful orthodontic planning remains the foundation of every great result.
